About SimsFilmFest

The Sims International Film Festival was created in 2010 as a way to foster creativity in The Sims community through machinima, an art form that uses video game footage to make movies. Over the years, as new entries in The Sims franchise were released and new editing methods became available, we’ve seen a lot of changes, but one thing has remained constant: our commitment to showcasing the creativity of this community and inspiring new artists. Through its programs, the festival seeks to discover, support, and inspire independent machinima artists from around the world, and to introduce audiences to their new work.

The festival has grown exponentially since the day it was created, consolidating a huge database of directors and machinimas, and bringing new features such as the creation of Battle of the Bands. With an annual schedule open to all countries and demographics, SimsFilmFest is a truly global platform that inspires people from a variety of cultures.

It’s not only the machinimas that make the event special. It’s the atmosphere and spirit that the audience itself brings with them. Throughout the days of the festival there is an amazing feeling of inspiration and energy. A sense of shared views and ideals. Of like-minded people who have much to learn and also knowledge to impart. It’s a casual atmosphere where new friends are made and new artists discovered. It’s this that represents SimsFilmFest, a shared feeling that you belong to a community. That you’re a creative individual, not just a commodity.

We encourage people to take a leap of faith and try something new. We invite people of all levels of skill to join in and be proud of their accomplishments. SimsFilmFest is not about the winners, but about the risk-takers.
