Binge Watch: Dance School

I am going to get so much crap for this one, and I’m okay with that. I am trying to convince Simlish Television to enter Dance School in SimsFilmFest. It’s not going to be for everyone, but what machinima is? There are currently 5 official episodes and a number of extra episodes. I’ll get to all that in moment. First, what is Dance School?

Dance School is one part Sims challenge, one part Let’s Play, and one part machinima. That is what really makes it unique. If you have never heard of the Dance School Challenge, it’s based on the Performing Arts Challenge over at Mod the Sims. I say based on because Simlish Television has made it dance school specific and not a general performance arts college.

There is a lot going on in this series, and that’s half the fun. It’s filmed really well, and it’s done in Simlish with English subtitles. If everyone presented their challenges with this much thought and creativity put into them, I would never get off YouTube.

What originally caught my attention was a video titled Ninja Dance School. Of course, with a name like that I would have to check it out. Is there anyone who can’t get behind a ninja dance off?

There is a girls team and a guys team and we get to see some cool themed dances like this one in the extra episodes. The guys so far have ninjas, and a Michael Jackson inspired performance (if it’s not MJ inspired, he’s the closest I can think of), while the girls have done Arabian dance and an Amazon themed one. As I said, there was thought put into this.

The series follows both teams as they fight and claw their way to the top of Dance School. There are a lot of shenanigans along the way for just enough drama and laughs. There are interviews with the contestants and when they engage in dance battles, there is a pop up in one of the upper corners with the games score on who won. All the things you expect from a reality TV show has been done with The Sims 4, and done much better than actual reality TV, I might add. I am waiting to see how this unfolds in the end.

There are a total of 10 videos in the Dance School playlist. I feel like they may be out of order but go check them out. Just a quick note, Episode 5 just went up and the English subtitles aren’t done yet.
