Fan Girl: Swan Lake

It’s already the first of September! Less than a month before the big day! Can I get a woot, woot?!

Yeah, that was lame. Okay, let’s focus on the festival rather than my failed attempt at entertainment.

Scrolling through the playbill, I stumbled across Swan Lake, a film submitted by Cassydiya. I haven’t seen the ballet myself, but the concept of such a beautiful process of art is intriguing. And this festival is, after all, about expressing artistic talent.

I won’t post any spoilers, but I will say that it’s interesting to see an entire ballet story told in the form of a Sims 2 machinima. I’d seen the film in the playbill before, but only recently did I see a link showing that the film had been released. I was excited to see it because I was somewhat familiar with the story and wanted to see it in one of my all-time favorite games. The music was lovely in itself, and I enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane since Cassydiya mentioned the Barbie of Swan Lake movie in the description as inspiration for this film.

I’ll stop there so I don’t say any spoilers, but I enjoyed reliving memorable parts of my childhood with this film! Want to know what happens? You’ll have to watch it! 😉

I’ve played The Sims since the very first game. It’s quickly become one of my two favorite games of all time. The Sims 3 is my favorite, though The Sims 4 is slowly growing on me. I love SIFF, and have made many friends by partaking in it.

The Sims International Film Festival was created in 2010 as a way to foster creativity in The Sims community through machinima, an art form that uses video game footage to make movies. Over the years, as new entries in The Sims franchise were released and new editing methods became available, we’ve seen a lot of changes, but one thing has remained constant: our commitment to showcasing the creativity of this community and inspiring new artists.
