ANNOUNCEMENT: SimsFilmFest Festival Change

This announcement is going to be one of those good news/bad news sort of things, I think. It really depends on how you look at things. I have come down sick, yet again, because allergy season and nature is trying to kill me. I was considering extending the deadline a week or two and I got to looking at the calendar. It’s a good thing that I did because a few things have come up in the last couple of days that is going to make a number of staff members unavailable at the end of the season. Realistically we wouldn’t be able to release anything with the winner announcements until May 1. Life happens.

So…we’ve decided to extend things out a month. The new dates are as follows:

  • ENTRY DEADLINE: APRIL 15
  • VOTING FOR POSTERS AND TRAILERS OPENS: APRIL 15
  • RED CARPET GALLERY SUBMISSIONS OPEN: APRIL 15
  • VOTING FOR POSTERS AND TRAILERS CLOSES : APRIL 30
  • PROJECTS DUE: END OF DAY ON MAY 1
  • VOTING FOR MACHINIMAS OPENS: MAY 1
  • VOTING FOR MACHINIMAS CLOSE: MAY 15
  • RED CARPET GALLERY SUBMISSIONS CLOSE: MAY 15
  • WINNERS ANNOUNCED: MAY 19

If anyone needs any extra time, you have it. Because of the extension of the dates we will not accept any late entries for any reason. If anyone wanted to enter but didn’t make the deadline, you still have time.

The Sims International Film Festival was created in 2010 as a way to foster creativity in The Sims community through machinima, an art form that uses video game footage to make movies. Over the years, as new entries in The Sims franchise were released and new editing methods became available, we’ve seen a lot of changes, but one thing has remained constant: our commitment to showcasing the creativity of this community and inspiring new artists.
